What to Wear to Alt 2018

So here I am, again, thinking about what in the world will I wear to Alt Design Summit 2018. I’m not going to lie, I’m over 40 and feel so out of my element when it comes to Palm Springs style, let alone a bunch of amazing influencers converging in Palm Springs for one of the most anticipated conferences I go to each year. I mean, these girls have S-T-Y-L-E! Yes, All CAPS, for sure!!  I always go home with a few photos I’ve snuck for the coolest shoes or the sassiest outfit.  But for me, I stick to classic, traditional style; which I fret over because I so wanna be one of the sassy style girls.

Last year, I was a little intimidated, I packed my suitcases and hoped for the best. I thankfully remembered sunscreen. Palm Springs is sunny, no joke about that, so remember that sunscreen ladies! I got so many amazing nuggets from the conference that had absolutely nothing to do with what I was wearing! So many things that helped my business move forward. I even met someone from Sunset Magazine the very first night on a total fluke and that was something that I had on my bucket list for ALT last year! CRAZY!

This year, I thought I’d be a little more prepared, and then again I thought, wait a minute. Alt to me is about meeting and connecting with people, learning and moving my business forward – not about impressing people. Everyone is so welcoming, open and friendly. I needed to get some perspective. Sure, I wanna look my best but I’m going to connect and collaborate and learn.

I put together this inspiration board in preparation for a quick shopping trip to see if I had anything missing that I would need to toss in my suitcase for the end of the month. One thing that I really wanted to share is that being YOU is the most important thing. YOU are an original, YOU are YOU and that is what makes YOU … um, duh, YOU!! So this year, it’s jeans, t-shirts and cute shoes, what I’d wear every day ‘cause Friends, that’s me.

Can’t wait to meet new people, even though I’m a total introvert; it’s exciting to be around other like-minded people.
