I started my photography business with the words “I double-dog dare ya”!

“I Double Dog Dare Ya” …

Oh man, do those words ever motivate me.

I don’t know about you but I’ve always, always felt that I could do anything. I got teased by someone I used to know that I say “it’s easy” all the time.
They would say, I want to do this or that and I would say quickly “oh, it’s easy, here do this and this.”  I finally learned to stop saying it’s easy, ‘cause it ain't easy, it’s a mindset or a double-dog dare if you will.

I don’t think that I would be where I am today in my photography business if it wasn’t for a double-dog dare! I’m not even kidding.  I used to be in the Information Technology field, I sat behind a computer, in a cubicle and was probably the most unhappy I’d been in my life. One morning, I went to Starbucks with a group of my workmates and I said how cool it was that they feature local artists, I wish I could get my photos up there … and there you have it, can you guess what my coworker said next? Yep, “I double-dog dare you to go up there when you order your coffee and ask them how you can get your photos up there” …. I don't know if you know this about me, but, let me just fill you in, I'm the oldest of five kids, ain't no one going to think I can't do something … Challenge ACCEPTED!

This was my very first display at Starbucks on J and 38th Street

You can’t be from a large family and not accept a challenge right?!!!

OMG!! The manager told me that next month I could put my photos up there and to please remember to bring in my brochures!!  And there you have it, I squealed for joy and then started sweating!!!  Freaking out actually! My business started right there!

I miss that Starbucks! It recently closed it's doors but I will never ever drive by that building without smiling.
