I think every parent who has had a child go through the process of getting braces deserves an extra hug! Just sayin’
The other day Izzy has her first orthodontist appointment; she was super excited! No, I’m not kidding, I can thank my parents for that, my mom promised Izzy a pretty sweet deal for getting them on because when she found out that she was going to have to have them drama hit the Sylvia house like no bodies business. Not this day though, she had a little extra pep in her step (thank you mom). I kinda did too when I was thinking of the sweet deal that was going down and then the gal at the office sat down with me and told me about the expander that Izzy was going to have to wear … alright I thought, cool, I think, AND then she informed me that I would have to widen it every day … um, say WHAT??? My eyes welled with tears, I thought I was going to puke and said so … Izzy piped in “COOL my mom is going to puke” … oh fabulous I thought. I asked the gal if she was serious … SHE WAS!!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!
Perhaps this is a good time to mention when I took the kids last year to get a flu shots – they were champs – no problems at all, I on the other hand almost fainted, had to lay down and be monitored, good times … back to the dental device I have to tighten daily … I think I’m still freaking out!
When I got home I turned on the the stove, filled the kettle and got the CALM tea out … if it hadn’t been noon something alcoholic in a shot glass would have totally been called for! LOL
I’m super thankful that my kiddos are happy and healthy and have a good sense of humor, I mean they think it’s cool if mom is going to puke! I’m thankful that they aren’t afraid of things that totally freak me out and that they think medical devices are cool … They’ve totally got this … I’m not sure I do … but you do what you gotta do!
Bring it on expander … and sweet deal for getting braces … and just to be safe someone grab the puke bowl … mom might get sick!! xoxo
